Family Holidays in Mayrhofen

The Mayrhofen Hippach Holiday Region in Zillertal is the ideal place for your family holiday in Tyrol. In summer and winter both adults and children are active – with adventure by the stream, a trip to the Adlerbühne falconry display on Ahorn; and in winter - at airy heights in glistening snow in the holiday region's mountains - with jolly snowmen, ice-skating and with racy descents by toboggan or on skis – holidays here are great for kids.

Adlerbühne Ahorn

A bird of prey display at the Adlerbühne on Ahorn is a very special experience! At an altitude of 2,000 m, the kings of the skies delight people with spectacular areal acrobatics, against the wonderful backdrop of the Zillertal Alps. Eagles, eagle owls and other birds soar just above the heads of the spectators, whilst the falconers explain all about the animals' habits - in a display that lasts about an hour.

Zillertal Visitor Dairy Farm

You can now convince yourself of the quality and taste of hay milk and various yoghurts in the new 'GENUSSlöffeln' area of the Visitor Dairy! In the restaurant you can enjoy food from the dairy's kitchen, including exceptionally tasty delicacies and traditional specialities prepared with produce from the visitor farm, our own hay-milk products and regional produce.

In the farm shop there are not only hay-milk products from the Zillertal Visitor Dairy, but also honey from the visitor farm and many other regional products and handcrafted goods.

Spruce Tree Castle

Visitors of all ages can really let off steam at the Spruce Tree Castle in the Zillertal Arena near Zell am Ziller - whether it's scrambling up the climbing tower, sliding in the slide tower, at the attractive water playground area or pottering about on the crane tower.

The 18m-high viewing tower offers a fantastic view of the Zillertal Alps. There are numerous comfortable places to rest.

Strasser Häusl

The nostalgic Strasser Häusl near Hippach in the Zillertal valley, with its extraordinary story of the Strasser children who made the Christmas carol "Silent Night" famous with their concert performances. The old farmer's cottage on the edge of a meadow, with its heavy smoked-stained beams, wide balcony and tiny window shutters, has hardly changed in appearance for almost 300 years.

After a tour, you can sit down in the cosy living room for coffee and cakes; and hear the many stories of the Strasser children told through the cottage and the lives of Zillertal farmers.

Zillertal Railway

The Zillertal Railway, which dates from a time when travelling by train was still an adventure, is one of the most well-known narrow gauge railways still in operation.

A trip on the Zillertal Railway offers you and your family a great experience and plenty of variety, for example a trip by nostalgic stream train, a glass of sparking wine in the Kristallwagon carriage or with yourself as (hobby) locomotive driver.

Visitors are able to explore an accessible crevasse with magical ice stalactites, giant sparkling ice crystals, frozen waterfalls and even a glacial lake.

Spannagel Cave

Spannagel Cave on Hintertux Glacier is an ideal excursion destination for any enquiring mind. The entrance to this natural cave is located at Spannagelhaus.

This is just 10 minutes from the summit station of the Zillertal Glacier Cable Car. The cave is 10 kilometres long - making it the largest natural cave in Tyrol. Equipped with a helmet and jacket for protection, a visit with a qualified potholing instructor promises a very special experience.
